Barbara McClennen Scholarship
The Barbara McClennen Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is in offered memory of Souderton Independent Editor Barbara McClennen, who died in November 2007. The Barbara McClennen/ Souderton-Telford Rotary Scholarship is a one time monetary award of at least $2,000. The Barbara McClennen/Souderton-Telford Rotary Club Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior at Christopher Dock High School or Souderton Area High School who, after application and interview by the Rotary Scholarship Interview Committee, most closely meets the requirements listed below. Interviews are scheduled by the Committee at the school that the applicant attends (Christopher Dock or Souderton Area high schools). Christopher Dock High School graduates were added as eligible candidates by the Souderton-Telford Rotary Board of Directors for the 2012 scholarship.
Applicants must meet the following requirements and explain them in a letter of application:
- Applicants must have experience working on the school newspaper, the school yearbook, or other school news media.
- Applicants must have a record of service within the school community or community-at-large.
- Applicants must plan to pursue college/university level study of Journalism or Communications.
- Applicants must complete an application available thru Christopher Dock or Souderton Area High School's guidance offices.
- Applicants must agree to visit a Souderton-Telford Rotary Club meeting to make a presentation about their career plans, if they are awarded the Barbara McClennen Memorial Scholarship.
