Pamela Varkony is a non-fiction writer and a former contract columnist for The Morning Call, a Tribune Publishing newspaper. Her work appears regularly in newspapers, magazines and in PBS and NPR on-air commentaries. Her poetry has been published in the New York Times. Pamela was named the 2017 Pearl S. Buck International Woman of Influence for her body of work including her humanitarian efforts which include aiding Syrian women refugees and educating young women in Rwanda. She has also received a Chamber of Commerce “Athena” award and been recognized as a “Woman of Distinction” by the Girl Scouts. Pamela is a Bucks County native, born and raised in Haycock Township, and is co-author of the book “Our Lost Tohickon Valley” about the building of Nockamixon State Park. |

You are invited to participate in the 2019 Rotary District 7430 Strike-Out Hunger Phillies Game at Citizen's Bank Park on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Game time is 7:05 p.m.; the Phillies will be playing the Chicago Cubs. For each ticket sold by Rotary Clubs, the Phillies will rebate $10 to Rotary International Foundation or PolioPlus. These funds will be contributed in the name of our club and we will received an acknowledgement of our gift. Tickets range in price from $20 to $47 each. Rotary asks that everyone attending the game bring a non-perishable food item to be placed in the containers at the entrance to the ballpark. In addition, Rotary International president Mark Maloney will be in attendance and will throw out the "first pitch." Bring family, friends, prospective Rotary members, etc. for a good time at the Phillies. Attendees will coordinate their own transportation. Jason Donmoyer has agreed to be the ticket coordinator for our club. Please sign up via this event invitation and he will coordinate the purchase of the tickets for our club. Broad Street Theater Renovation

The Broad Theatre, located at 24 W. Broad Street in Souderton, opened July 21, 1922, with 700 seats for movies and vaudeville acts. The theatre was renovated in the 1940’s and was closed in 2006. The location was recently purchased. Join us to learn what the status is of this major renovation project. |
